-- An Open Q & A Forum for Parents --

“Building Roots and Branching Success”

Jolene Burch, MOTR/L is a holistic occupational therapist and nutritional consultant who services children and their families at her outpatient therapy center, Alternative Therapy Center for Children, located in Shelton, CT. She is a unique and gifted practitioner trained in neurodevelopmental techniques, such as sensory and reflex integration. - COME WITH A QUESTION, LEAVE WITH A SOLUTION -

As a parent, you may often wonder:  Is this behavior normal for my child’s age? Do other parents experience this behavior? Should I be concerned? What is my child trying to tell me by behaving this way?

I am here to tell you that there are alternative treatments for children and a different way to view childhood behaviors. This Q & A forum will share knowledge, resources, and tools to address common questions as a parent when raising a child, with or without special needs.

Some of the topics you may learn about are:

■ Conscious and Positive Parenting Strategies          ■ Connecting with Your Highly Sensitive Child

■ Developmental Stages & Growth                          ■ Attention-Seeking & Learned Behaviors

■ Holistic Nutrition for Sensitive Children         ■ Picky Eaters vs. Problem Feeders

Self-inquiry is the practice of redirecting your attention from outward objects, events and experience, learning to train your focus on the experiences within your body and being.

By gradually peeling away focus  from external distraction and staying with our own inner experience, we gain insight into our true nature. Cathy will facilitate this process, providing you with guidance on how to redirect your focus and practicing with you in this afternoon workshop. She offers tools she has gathered during her decades of experience with guided meditation and energy body awareness. No previous experience is necessary. Bring your curiosity to discover what wisdom lies within.

Cathy Prins has been a certified Reiki Master since 1998. She has had a thriving healing practice in Fairfield County for the past 20 years, which includes deep tissue massage, craniosacral therapy and a variety of energetic integration techniques. Testimonials:

“Each class will target all of the above through gentle movement & “exercises”; guided visualizations and breath work. No experience is necessary! Julie is a fantastic teacher. She not only has mastery, but the wisdom, patience, and guidance to teach the student where they are. Whether aged 10 or 100, a first time student or a seasoned practitioner, her teaching style uplifts and encourages each and every student. The art may be several thousand years old, yet she brings it forth with an aliveness that makes each class a joy for the soul.” -Mark S.

“I’m new to Qigong and wasn’t sure what to expect when I went to my first class with Julie two months ago.  Julie is welcoming and each class has been nicely structured with a theme that’s interesting, engaging and works for me.  I’ve felt quite good after each class and find myself drawn to practicing on my own.” -Roberta C.

“Qigong with Julie is an enriching experience combining gentle body movement with spirituality and, for me, soothing therapy in motion” -Barbara L.
